Hereford Firm Blazes Way In Energy Crisis
8th February 2006
A local Hereford family has started a new business supplying kiln dried logs and kindling from renewable British hardwoods in a bid to offer consumers a traditional carbon neutral alternative to oil, coal and gas power.
Certainly Wood expects demands to soar as the energy crisis deepens and says that consumers have logged on in their droves this winter to the company's new web site with a burning desire to find out more about the logs which are kiln dried for a better burn.
Says Certainly Wood Director, George Snell, 'consumer's want to burn our wood, not their cash by buying damp logs. The wood is harvested from sustainable, well managed forests in Herefordshire and surrounding counties. It is then cut and split before being barn dried for several months then places in the fantastic 'drying machine' to ensure that it is really dry'.
'We believe our locally grown carbon neutral logs are a genuine alternative to other harmful or increasingly unsustainable energy sources'.
The company which is expecting to turnover half a million pounds in its first year, is also launching a new range of log stores designed for keeping logs in the optimum conditions for dryness.
