Although the weather has been typically British over the Bank Holiday weekend, people have been braving the elements to celebrate National BBQ Week, which runs until 3rdJune.

BBQing is now the top leisure activity for Brits during the summer months and, inevitably, the air will be filled by that distinctive smell of paraffin-based firelighters as people stoke up the barbie. However, you can avoid all this with Certainly Wood’s little twists of loveliness – otherwise known as Flamers.

Made from wood wool and refined paraffin wax, they’re odourless and stay flaming for up to 8  minutes, making them the perfect alternative to traditional firelighters. They’re made in Britain too!

Place one or two Flamers amongst your charcoal, depending on the size of your BBQ you’re lighting. Then place a covering of charcoal around each Flamer, ensuring air can still get to it. Alternatively, you can use a charcoal chimney to get your BBQ going. Simply insert a Flamer or two at the base of the chimney, fill with charcoal and light.

Wait until your coals glowing nicely before you start cooking. If you’re feeling really adventurous, why not try using Certainly Wood’s kiln-dried logs as an alternative to charcoal for some serious outdoor cooking?

Bon appetite and happy BBQ Week.
