Photographers Rebecca and Simon Wild are well known to Certainly Wood customers as they are responsible for lots of the wonderful images that grace the pages of our website.

Their first love is food photography and the pair produce exceptional images from their rural Herefordshire studio.

Their passion for food led them to putting together a rather wonderful cookbook featuring 80 food-loving Herefordshire businesses who submitted their favorite recipes.

Not all the contributors are growers or producers, some are small village shops or cocktail bars – there’s even one from a school.

The husband and wife team involved local food and drink producer Jo Hilditch in the project, which took over a year from start to finish.

The idea was to focus on great imagery to sell the food, rather than lots of copy to show the world that Herefordshire, despite being one of England’s most rural counties, has some amazing food and drink on offer, as Simon Wild explains:

“Herefordshire is better known for its steaks, ciders and, more recently, crisps (Tyrells) and vodka (Chase). The mouth-watering recipes in the cookbook have a truly rural feel and include Rabbit with Cider, Chocolate and Stout Cake and Pheasant and Prune Casserole, to name but a few. A true taste of Herefordshire fayre and a perfect coffee table read.”

Launched in 2013 at Hereford’s Flavours Food Festival in Hereford it got the Royal seal of approval too when the Duke of Gloucester also endorsed it during a visit to one of the contributors’ farms.

The book achieved lots of local and national press coverage including being nominated as the Telegraph “Cookbook of the Week”.

The first run was an instant hit and sold out like ‘hot cakes’, but a second print run followed, which means you can still get your hands on a copy here.
