Cooking on Wood: Campfire Jacket Potato
A longtime favourite to campers, jacket potatoes are almost as easy as they are delicious. You don't need an oven to make a perfectly baked potato, only some tin foil and your favourite toppings.

Step One
Light your fire a few hours before cooking your potatoes - you might even find that last night's ashes are warm enough for this. If your fire is too hot, the potatoes will burn on the outside and not cook the inside, so make sure there is still heat in your firepit/campfire, but not too much.
Step Two
Prepare the potatoes by tearing off a piece of tin foil big enough to wrap your potato in. Using a fork, stab the potato a few times in different places, then oil well and season with salt and pepper. Wrap the potatoes in tin foil.
Step Three
Using heat-protective gloves, nestle the wrapped potatoes in the hot ashes. Leave to cook for at least approximately 2 hours, but cooking time will depend on the size of the potaoes. You can check the potatoes every now and then, and if not cooked, simply place them back in the ahes.
Step Four
Once cooked, remove from heat and add your toppings. We topped ours with coronation chicken. Yummy!
