Description
Effortlessly light your fire with our premium kiln dried kindling. Crafted from premium softwood, this kindling boasts a low moisture content (below 12%) – the secret to quick and efficient fire lighting.
The Benefits of Kiln Dried Kindling:
- Easy Lighting: Low moisture content allows for effortless ignition.
- Quick Fire Starting: Kiln dried kindling lights quickly, providing a reliable base for building your fire.
- Cleaner Burning: The low moisture content ensures a clean burn, minimising smoke and fumes during the initial stages of fire lighting.
- Sustainable Sourcing: We source our kiln dried kindling from responsibly managed woodlands, ensuring environmental responsibility.
Convenience and Efficiency:
- Clean and Easy to Store: This kiln dried kindling arrives neatly packed in a convenient, wax-coated cardboard box with a lid for easy access and storage. The wax coating offers some protection from wet weather, but it's best stored indoors in a dry location for ultimate protection.
- The Perfect Size: Each box contains approximately 118 sticks of kiln dried kindling, ideal for multiple fires (one box can light 18 fires). Its compact size makes it easy to store.
- Compatible with Various Fires: Our kiln dried kindling is suitable for use with wood-burning stoves, multi-fuel stoves, open fires, chimineas, and wood-fired BBQs. Light your fire with confidence, regardless of the application.
Recommended Usage:
For optimal fire starting, we recommend using the top-down method. Lay two Ready to Burn kiln dried logs at the base of your woodburner. Using 6-8 sticks of kiln dried kindling, create a Jenga formation on top of the logs. Put one Flamer natural firelighter in the middle of this formation. Light the Flamer and add more logs when required. This combination provides a reliable and efficient way to ignite your fire, ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Investing in Certainly Wood kiln dried kindling means investing in convenience, efficiency, and a cleaner burning experience.
Our Kindling boxes are best ordered with your bulk order of firewood as the boxes are then delivered FREE.

FAQs
What size are the kindling sticks and how are they packed?
Each stick is cut to 15cm in length, packed into a box measuring 34cm x 16.5cm x 19cm, made from softwood rather than the hardwood used in our main log ranges. Softwood is used deliberately because it catches fire more easily than hardwood, making it well suited to its job of getting a fire established before you add your main logs.
What's the moisture content of Kiln Dried Kindling, and why does it matter?
It has an average moisture content of 12%, which is important because kindling needs to catch almost instantly to get a fire going. Damp kindling is one of the most common reasons a fire fails to establish, even when the main logs are perfectly dry, so a lower moisture spec here is deliberate rather than incidental.
How does Kiln Dried Kindling compare with the Mega Box option?
Both use identical 15cm softwood sticks at the same 12% average moisture content, the only difference is quantity. The Mega Box holds four times as much kindling as a standard box, so it works out more cost-effective if you light fires often and don't want to reorder every few weeks. Choose the standard box if you only need a top-up or are trying kindling for the first time; choose the Mega Box for regular, frequent use.
How should kindling be stored to keep it working well?
Keep boxes sealed and stored in a dry location, since kindling's whole purpose is to catch quickly, and even a small amount of moisture absorption will make it noticeably harder to light. Unlike thicker logs, thin kindling sticks have a larger surface area relative to their volume, so they pick up ambient moisture faster if left in a damp shed or exposed to the elements. Read more in our guide to storing kiln dried logs.
How quickly will my kindling order arrive?
Kiln Dried Kindling is delivered by courier as a small parcel, typically within 1-2 working days of ordering, whether you order a single box or the maximum of 10. There may be a small shipping charge at checkout, or become a member and get free delivery over £25. It's worth ordering kindling alongside a bulk log delivery if you're placing one, since the two will arrive together and save you a separate shipping charge.
