How We Deliver Firewood: Our Approach to Safe, Reliable Delivery

Each pallet is securely wrapped and checked before leaving our site. From there, it travels through Palletline’s network and is delivered straight to your home, handled with the same care we take when producing our logs.

What is kerbside delivery?

Kerbside delivery means that your order will be unloaded and left at the nearest safe point to your property, typically your driveway entrance or directly outside on a firm, level surface. Drivers use a manual pallet truck to move the pallet, after lowering it from the lorry using a tail lift.

Because pallet trucks can only roll on hard, flat ground, they can’t operate on:
  • Gravel or loose stones
  • Steep inclines
  • Soft or uneven ground
  • Steps or raised kerbs
For this reason, the driver will unload as close as possible to your property while ensuring the pallet remains stable and accessible for you to move once delivered.

Why is kerbside delivery the standard?

Kerbside delivery is the industry standard for heavy pallet transport. It ensures:
  • Safety for both you and the driver when handling large, heavy loads
  • Protection for your driveways, lawns, and paving from vehicle or pallet damage
  • Efficiency for reliable delivery times and minimal disruption
All deliveries are completed with your approval, and the driver will make sure the pallet is positioned safely before leaving.

Preparing for Delivery

A little preparation helps everything run smoothly on delivery day.
  1. Ensure that access to your property is clear and wide enough for the vehicle. Palletline has a variety of lorry sizes, including 7.5, 12, and 18-tonne lorries. All domestic deliveries will be made on a small standard lorry (12-tonnes and below) unless the chosen product exceeds the weight limit.
  2. Check that there’s a firm, level surface (tarmac, concrete, or block paving) for unloading.
  3. Let us know in advance if your property has limited access, steep slopes, or gravel.
  4. Use your delivery notes to leave specific delivery instructions for the driver.
  5. Plan where you’ll store your logs once the pallet has been unloaded, ideally under cover with good airflow.

Other things to consider

  • Deliveries are all-day bookings, so can be made between 8am and 6pm. We always encourage our customers to be present at the point of delivery, in case the driver needs any instructions.
  • Surcharges - Although you can select a specific delivery day at checkout, some customers may require a more precise delivery time slot. We do have AM/PM deliveries available if needed, but these come at an extra charge (free for Fire Club members). See terms and conditions for more details.
  • Lead time - we like to keep our lead times below a week; however, during the busy season, lead times may extend. 
  • ETAs: Unless you already have a timed delivery slot, ETAs should be provided by Palletline on the day of delivery.  Contact us at the Certainly Wood office from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, if you need any further assistance. 

No Space for Bulk Delivery? Try Small Parcel Options

If your property isn’t suitable for a pallet delivery, you can still order from Certainly Wood using our small parcel courier service.

Our smaller products, including single bags of kiln-dried logs, boot bags, boxed firewood, Flamers natural firelighters and kindling are shipped by parcel courier and delivered straight to your door. This is ideal for:
  • Customers with limited access or storage space
  • Holiday cottages or apartments
  • Smaller households needing to top up between bulk orders
