FAQs
What are Fired Up Heat Logs, and how do they differ from standard kiln dried logs?
Fired Up Heat Logs are dense briquettes made from compressed, sustainably sourced virgin timber. Their ultra-low moisture content and high density allow them to produce strong, sustained heat with minimal smoke and ash. Unlike natural kiln-dried logs, they have a uniform shape and can be broken into smaller sections for easier lighting or controlled heat output. They can be used on their own but are particularly effective alongside kiln-dried logs to boost heat and help prolong the fire.
Who should choose Fired Up Heat Logs over standard firewood logs?
These suit customers who want a consistent, low-smoke burn and don't mind paying a little more for a manufactured rather than natural log. They're a good option for smoke-control areas or anyone particularly focused on minimising smoke output, whereas customers happy with natural hardwood logs at a slightly higher moisture threshold may prefer our standard ash, oak or birch ranges instead of a compressed product.
Why is the moisture content of Fired Up Heat Logs lower than standard logs?
Fired Up Heat Logs are dried to below 10%, roughly half the moisture threshold of our standard kiln dried logs (20%), because the compression process used to form the logs works best with very dry wood fibres. This lower moisture content is also what gives compressed logs their efficient, low-smoke burn, since less energy is lost evaporating residual water during combustion. These are great for long, sustained burns.
How should I store Fired Up Heat Logs to protect the compressed format?
Keep pallets or packs undercover and dry, since compressed logs can swell, crumble or break down if they get wet, unlike solid natural logs which are more tolerant of brief damp exposure. Storing them the same way as standard firewood, in a log store or garage, works well and protects the compressed structure from breaking apart before use.
What pallet sizes are available and how is a pallet delivered?
Fired Up Heat Logs is available in 30, 60 or 90-log pallets, delivered by our national carrier within 3-5 working days as a bulk order, and qualifies for free UK mainland delivery. Choose the size based on how much you burn through in a season; single packs are also available if you want to try it before committing to a full pallet order. Read more in our delivery guide.
