Back to Certainly Blog

This month includes one of our favourite days to celebrate: the International Pizza day. Not sure about you, but a takeaway is becoming the highlight of the week these days. But not every pizza is the same and you might not find this surprising, our favourite type of pizza is one cooked in a wood fired oven. It creates that perfect crunchy crust the flavour is out of this world. Not wanting to make you hungry, but isn’t the image above making you pick up the phone and order that perfect pizza right now?

We work with a number of different pizzerias around the country, but sadly not all are open at the moment. A few, however, are doing takeaways still so why not check out the list below and see if they’re near you.  If you check them out we would love for you to share it on social and tag us @certainlywood

The Bottle Of Sauce - Cheltenham

The new way to enjoy your authentic wood-fired pizza at home. Bottle Of Sauce offer something different:  ‘a nearly cooked’ home baked pizza that you can finish off in your oven at home. If you aren’t able to cook it straight away you can also freeze it to enjoy  another night. What a great excuse to order 2 nights’ worth of pizza!

And if you can fit anymore in after those delicious pizzas, why not try your hand at making a sweet dessert pizza? We love the traditional Nutella and fruit combo but we came across this delicious recipe from Ooni for a Blackberry, ricotta and pistachio pizza.

They even gave us permission to have it one for breakfast too, dreams do come true.

Oonie wood-fired pizza recipe

Ingredients
Makes one 12” pizza

250/330g (8.8/11.6oz) classic pizza dough
50g (1.3oz) blackberries
40g (2 tablespoons) pistachios, ground
40ml (2 tablespoons)  honey
120g (4.3oz) ricotta

Method

Prepare your pizza dough ahead of time.

Once your dough is ready, fire up your pizza oven. Aim for 500˚C (950˚F) on the stone baking board inside.

In a small bowl, mix the ricotta together with one tablespoon of the honey. Set aside.

Using a small amount of flour, dust your pizza peel. Stretch the pizza dough ball out to 12”/16” and lay it out on your pizza peel. Spread the ricotta mixture evenly across the pizza base and top with the blackberries.

Slide the pizza off the peel and into your Pizza oven, making sure to rotate the pizza regularly.

Once cooked, remove the pizza from the oven. Top with the pistachios and a drizzle of the remaining honey. Serve straight away! Enjoy!
