Our ash and oak crate combination offers the perfect balance of easy firelighting and long-lasting heat, bringing together two of the most popular hardwood species in one cost-effective delivery. Hand-stacked with 100% premium ash and oak hardwood logs, this double stack (one medium ash crate and one medium oak crate) gives you the best of both: ash for reliable ignition and excellent all-round burning performance, and oak for a dense, slow burn with exceptional heat output.

Kiln dried to below 20% moisture content, both log types provide a clean, efficient burn with minimal smoke and outstanding heat. This makes them ideal for woodburning stoves, open fires, pizza ovens and fire pits. The stacked crate format maximises space efficiency while maintaining the same high-quality, hand-stacked presentation, making it a practical solution for households looking to stock up without compromising on storage.

 

STORAGE

All our crates are delivered wrapped and topped with a polythene cover, helping to protect the carefully kiln dried logs from the elements during transit and storage. Once unpacked, store under cover in a dry, well-ventilated area. The logs can also remain in the crate without compromising quality, making them easy to access whenever you need them.

Please note this product will be delivered on a large vehicle with a tail lift, even if it was previously delivered with a small vehicle.

What's in this crate, and why mix ash and oak?

This is a double-stacked 2.84m³ crate combining ash (around 19 MJ/kg, quick to light) with oak (18-20 MJ/kg, slower to light but longer-burning). Mixing the two gives you the convenience of ash to get the fire established quickly and maintain high heat output, then oak logs to bank the fire for a longer, steadier burn later in the evening, a practical middle ground if you don't want to buy two separate single-species crates for your household. How much firewood does this crate hold compared with a single-species option?

At 2.84m³, this double-stacked crate holds twice the volume of our Medium single-species crates (1.42m³), making it a good option if you want a large supply without ordering two separate deliveries. Please note that this crate option is two medium crates stacked on top of one another. It's currently only available in this one size, so if you need less volume, our Medium Ash or Medium Oak Crates may suit a smaller household better.

Is this crate kiln dried to the same standard as your single-species crates?

Yes, both the ash and oak logs in this crate are kiln dried below 20% moisture and Ready to Burn certified, ensuring a clean, efficient burn from either wood. This is the same standard applied across all our single-species crates, so mixing species doesn't come at the cost of a lower moisture spec or a less reliable burn from either type of log in the crate. How should I store the Ash & Oak Stacked Crate to keep the logs dry?

Keep it undercover, since its open, slatted sides give good airflow but not full protection from driving rain on their own. Positioning it under a car port, in a garage, or covering with a tarp will stop the logs reabsorbing moisture and help them hold their under-20% moisture spec for many months after delivery, right through the winter season. What's the delivery lead time for this crate, and does it qualify for free delivery?

This crate is delivered on a pallet by our national carrier, typically within 3-5 working days, and qualifies for free UK mainland delivery as a bulk order. Given its larger 2.84m³ size and weight, make sure there's clear, level access for the delivery vehicle and enough space to position the crate once it's off the lorry, ideally on a flat, hard-standing surface.
