The Kiln Dried Oak Crate is delivered via Palletline and qualifies for free UK mainland delivery as a bulk order. At checkout, you can choose your preferred delivery date, with the earliest available dates typically 3-5 working days after ordering. As the crate has a built-in pallet base, there's no separate pallet to dispose of. Oak isn't universally "better" but it is a popular firewood species. It has a calorific value of around 18-20 MJ/kg, among the highest of our hardwoods, and its density means it burns slowly and evenly for sustained heat, but it's also slower to light than ash or silver birch. Ash (around 19 MJ/kg) offers a good middle ground of reasonably quick lighting and reasonably long burn time, while silver birch (15-17 MJ/kg) lights fastest but burns 20-25% quicker than denser woods. Choose oak specifically if you want fewer, longer burns rather than frequent restocking through the evening, and be ready to use kindling or a faster-lighting wood to get it started.
