Unlike traditionally seasoned logs, kiln-dried logs offer consistent quality and moisture levels, ensuring reliable performance every time. The standard 25cm length is compatible with 99% of wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves, making it the ideal choice for heating.

What's the difference between this and the Great Value Kiln Dried Logs range?

Premium Kiln Dried Logs (Single Bags) is 100% ash, while the Great Value range is 100% silver birch. Both are kiln dried to below 20% moisture and Ready to Burn certified, but the woods behave differently. Ash has a calorific value of around 19 MJ/kg and gives a steady, reliable burn, while silver birch (around 15-17 MJ/kg) lights very quickly and burns brighter but around 20-25% faster, so you'll get through birch logs sooner. Ash typically costs a little more to reflect this. Choose Premium ash for a longer burn per log; choose Great Value birch if price and fast lighting matter more.

What log size is in each bag?

Each bag contains logs cut to 25cm in length and 5-15cm in diameter (+/-10% tolerance), measured across the widest point, a size that suits the great majority of domestic wood-burning stoves and open fires in the UK. If your appliance is unusually small, such as a compact Hobbit-style stove, our Dinkies range (maximum 20cm logs) may be a better fit; if you have a large stove or open fire that takes longer logs, our 35cm crate options or chunky bulk bags may suit better.

Can I burn premium kiln dried logs immediately after delivery?

Yes, you can burn Premium Kiln Dried Logs (Single Bags) immediately after delivery. They're kiln dried to below 20% moisture, making them Ready to Burn certified and ready to use straight from the bag with no additional seasoning or drying required. Simply store the bag in a dry, well-ventilated place until you're ready to use the logs, as prolonged exposure to rain can cause them to reabsorb moisture and reduce burning performance.
